Absolutely not. Our installers use cavity wall barriers or brushes to ensure the insulation material stays in your part of the building. These are installed before any insulation is blown in, so your neighbour’s home won’t be affected.

They will drill a series of small holes in the mortar between the bricks. The insulation material is then blown in, working from the bottom to the top of the house. Each hole will be made good to match the existing finish.

The insulation will last the life time of the building and we issue a 25 year guarantee provided by The Installation Assurance Authority (The IAA).

Our experienced installers will keep disruption to a minimum. There will be some noise and vibration from the drilling and the insulation machine will be noisy in the van for a couple of hours. 

Due to the drilling involved, there will be some dust and debris created but we will do our best to clean this up on completion. All the holes drilled will be filled to match the existing finish. Please keep in mind that rainy and windy conditions can make our clean up less effective.

It’s a good idea to remove any photo frames, mirrors or ornaments from external walls and window sills to prevent any accidental damage caused by vibrations.

It is simple and quick to have cavity wall insulation installed. Our fully trained installers work efficiently to ensure there is minimal disruption to your home life. Most of the work takes place from outside, unless any internally drilled areas are agreed. You can carry on with your daily life as usual. 

If you live in a terraced property, we may need to take our insulation hoses through your house in order to fill the rear walls.

A typical three bedroom semi-detached house, with no access issues, will usually take somewhere between 2-3 hours to install cavity wall insulation.

Larger properties, or those with tricky access requirements, can take longer but our surveyor or bookings team will inform you of a likely timeframe.

The cavity wall insulation will last the lifetime of the building and is guaranteed for 25 years. Once the walls are insulated, the material will sit in the walls like a cushion, keeping your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Having your loft insulated is usually an easy and straightforward process. You’ll need to have a loft hatch with access for us to carry out a survey and your loft should be relatively clutter free so we can get in and assess it properly.

Many people choose to have their loft professionally insulated. It can be uncomfortable conditions, having to content with cramped and hard to reach areas. Also, the material should be laid safely, paying attention to any electric cables, downlights and ventilation needed in the loft space.

The new layers of loft insulation will keep warmth in the living areas below your ceilign, making the roof space colder than it was before.

We’ll need to ensure we insulate any exposed pipework and water tanks to prvent them from freezing in the colder months. We will also ensure ventilation is adequate to prevent condensation forming in colder weather. To prevent this, we’ll also insulated the loft hatch to keep as much heat from escaping into the loft as possible.

Yes, you will need to clear the loft of any stored items before we can install loft insulation. 

Don’t remove any existing insulation, unless this has been agreed prior to work commencing. 

If your loft already has some insulation, it’s always worth checking that the existing material is deep enough to be working as effectively as it can to provide the best savings.

Current recommended guidlines are to have between 270-300mm of insulation installed. This should be in two layers; one between the joists and a second layer cross laid (at right angles) over the joists.

If your loft insulation is only up to the joists, you would definitely benefit from having another layer installed. Our surveyor can check this for you and offer an honest opinion.

This will vary between properties, depending on the exact specification of the job. A simple “top up” in a typical three bedroom property will usually take approximately 2 hours. 

Our surveyor will advise an approximate time frame, as will the bookings team when you accept your quote.

It’s best not to squash or disturb the new insulation, as this will deminish it’s insulating properties.

If you plan to use your loft for storage, speak to us about having loft boarding installed. We can created a raised storage platform, which prevents the new insulation being squashed.

Scaffolding will usually be required to fully insulate your home, so the outside areas around your home may need to be kept clear during the work. The team will need to remove anything attached to the walls, such as outside lights, drainpipes, wastepipes and satellite dishes.

Once the walls have been “enabled”, specially designed insulation boards (either mineral fibre or EPS) will be fixed to the outside walls. A mesh re-inforced base coat is then applied and once set, a top coat of render in your chosen finish and colour is applied to weatherproof the walls. All external features are then re-instated and the scaffold removed.

Some properties can be quite complex with regard to enabling, however, we will work to ensure there is minimal disruption to your home life during the instllation. The majority of work takes place outside your home, on the exterior walls, so you can carry on your daily life as usual. 

Our team will need access to electricity and water during the installation. An A to Z project manager will outline a clear action plan with you before work takes place.

This will depend on the size and complexity of the job, as well as the weather. A typical three bedroom semi-detached property, in good dry weather conditions, can be completed in as little as two weeks from start to finish.

External wall insulation is not recommended if the exterior walls of a building are structurally unsound and cannot be repaired. Any problems with penetrating or rising damp must also be addressed before insulation can be considered.

You will need to inform the Building Control or Planning department at your Local Authority that you intend to install external wall insulation. They will be able to advise whether planning permission is required for the installation.

If planning permission is required, you will need to apply and have this approved before we can install EWI. We’re happy to help with any queries throughout the process.

Before installation commences, we will need good, clear, all-round access to the outer walls of your home. If there is anything in particular you need to do, the project manager will inform you before work starts.
