At A to Z Energy Solutions Ltd we only use high quality insulation materials such as Knauf Earthwool which has been developed to last for at least 30 – 40 years! It is a soft to touch, non-itch product and formaldehyde free. It also has the best Euroclass A1 reaction to fire and is manufactured using 80% recycled glass.
If the existing insulation is only up to joist height, or non existent, you could be losing a huge amount of heat through your roof! Many properties built up to the early 2000s will have anywhere between 0 – 150mm in the loft.
The current recommended amount is between 270-300mm. One layer should be between the joists, while another layer is cross laid covering the timbers to ensure no heat escapes.

All existing insulation is bagged in the loft to prevent fibreglass covering your belongings and disposed of at a registered waste transfer station.

Loft Boarding
Want to insulate your loft and save on your bills, but don’t want to lose that valuable storage space?
Having cleared your loft and getting it ready for new loft insulation, you want to carry on storing suitcases and Christmas decorations. Enquire about having your loft boarded!
We install additional joists to raise the boarded area above the new insulation, ensuring it’s working as efficiently as possible. Storage platforms from 1 – 20m2 can safely be installed without affecting the roof structure or insulation.
Our surveyor will be able to discuss your requirements and advise the most practical area to board, so you can maximise the storage space in your property.

Loft hatches and ladders
So you’ve decided to insulate your loft and have a storage platform installed to keep your items. Why not look at having a 3 stage aluminium ladder, with hand rail and lifting pole, fitted for easy access to the loft?
Loft ladders require a drop down hatch in order to function properly. If you have a standard push up hatch, it’s no problem as we can install a white PVCu hatch insulated with 50mm EPS board.
Existing loft hatches that are tight to fit through can also be enlarged to allow installation of a drop down hatch and ladder.
Please note, hatches and ladders are only offered where we are also installing loft insulation.
